BloodTestAlert.net has been launched by Jerome and Irene Quadros as a public awareness initiative.Irene’s mother passed away 5 years back as a result of a heart attack. A hale and hearty person,she had no major health problems but unknown to everyone heart disease lurked within, which could have been revealed by a simple blood test. Later on, we came across similar cases among acquaintances and friends where lives were lost due to sudden heart attack. Gradually it became apparent that many people do not get blood tested for lipid profile in India, whereas Indians like other South Asians are highly prone to heart disease due to diet and genetic reasons.

We have been trying to propagate this message among people known to us but for wide dissemination of the message an innovative method was needed and an email campaign was the solution selected. We do hope that recipients of the emails will in turn forward the message to their contacts thereby keeping the chain going. With the co-operation of our emailing associates we hope that the message will receive the wide coverage that it deserves. We will deem to have succeeded in our mission when blood testing for lipids becomes a routine practice and incidence of heart attacks reduces as a result of better heart care.
